speeding ticket after the fact
21 Answers
It was 6 am . very dark. i see an oncoming truck flash his lights at me. the old signal for policeman ahead. from pretty far in back i see the blue lights. the road gets narrow and windey at this point. i pull into a side street and turn around. I never saw the police car again. Can i get a ticket? i wasnt going very fast. in fact I wasnt speeding. i kept expecting to see him right on my tail but he never did. he could have easily caught me if he wanted to. i doubt he got my plates.

I was expecting to see him right on my tail cause I did briefly see his lights. I was nervous ans just assumed he was after me. he was far enough behind that i didnt get a great look at him. it was all so fast. I turned into the side street because it seemed the saftest close place to pull over as it was narrow and windey there. Honestly , i never saw him drive by. so i went about my business.
Essentially ,I am looking for more of a legal answer then a questioning my story and integrity answer.Straight legal answer . Because if he was after me I basically escaped. I feel terrible about this.I dont need a record because im a teacher. I know that they would have to prove it was actually me driving. Car is not in my name. They ticket people not cars.Unsure if he could have the plates. Doubt it.
you've had lots of straight legal answers. You weren't speeding. Nobody has stopped you to tell you that you were speeding. If there was a police car there he has shown no signs of having even seen you. If you didn't get flashed by any speed cameras (which don't require the presence of police), then I confidently predict...
you won't get a speeding ticket.
you won't get a speeding ticket.

But people have answered the question. If you were doing nothing wrong, why should the police be after you? You can get a speed ticket after the fact if you went through a speed trap exceeding the speed limit, and only then. The police were in the distance and had apparently not seen you. What are you afraid of?
