Further, you'll need to pay twice if LPAs are created BOTH in respect of financial affairs AND in respect of welfare.

It depends if you want to go down the official route or take the cheaper option http:// www.law pack.co .uk/pow er-of-a ttorney /news/a rticle7 298.asp
My wife and I have just taken the DIY route and it's straightforward enough - I don't see any reason at this stage to take the "lawpack" route suggested by 237SJ.
Check-out Buenchico's link, download the forms and try filling them in - it will cost you nothing. If, at that stage, you don't feel confident then try the the link suggested by 237SJ.
Be aware that there will be a time delay of up to 2 months between sending off the forms and having them verified.

Thank you all . We had a speaker at our local widows group who said that their firm was the only one approved by trading standards and she quoted a price of £380 for the complete package. Unfortunately I destroyed the leaflet so cannot tell you the name of the firm. This seemed a little steep to me and I always turn to this site and am usually glad I did. I certainly am this time will definitely try the diy route and thank you for taking the time to answer
Do Trading standards approve firms?
