I have just received my decree nici but have not yet reached a financial settlement with my husband. He has just told me that we have to settle in 6 weeks as this is stipulated by the court. I thought it was the case that my decree absolute was only issued once I had signed further papers and agreed the terms of settlement.
Can anyone please help... thank you.

I believe that the absoute is applied for 6 weeks plus 1 day after the decree nisi. This is the earliest it can be applied for so if things are still been 'sorted' then the absolute doesn't have to be applied for and won't be granted anyway
Your solicitor should be able to confirm this
