I took my car for an MOT and service ,they did the service and then took the car to another garage for the MOT during the MOT the engine went onto high revs when testing the exhaust gasses and wouldn\'t stop ,and it ran to destruction I have now been informed I need a new engine which will cost £4000 ,they said it was a turbo failure ,have I any redress with these garages

seems so.....you drove vehicle in for service, that they claim they did before MOT. Their servicing was obviously incompetant! Sue them.
They are trying it on, when a turbo fails it will prevent the engine from revving to its full capability, as it prevents the free flow of air to your induction system.
