that's a shocker. I'm sorry for your sister and family. what are the prison doing about it? are the police interested?
I would think most solicitors will give you a slot to discuss the possibility of a claim. But to sue your sister would need to be able to show some sort of injury/loss which merited compensation, plus negligence. I'm by no means an expert in this are but I think the chances of success are slim, but by all means approach a solicitor for a short meeting

thanx for replies. much more to it than just the bit i said. said prisoner is 27 weeks into a life sentence. for an unprovked knife attack in the back which left my 16 yr old nephew dead.. visitors on 'family day' stole prisoners id tag and used it as a facebook profile pic. the photos taken by the prison , some were given to family visitors for personal privacy. not to be published. these seen by my sister have pushed her over the edge, had breakdown ect since she seen these pics, is now on a lot of medication . a right mess she in really. she says the prison are responsible and accountable for what comes out the prison, they do own camera that took pics and the copy right. the prison admit security breach, say they learnt lessons ect. our mp is dealing with ministry of justice, who just sympathize and appologise for pain and extreame distress this as caused. it was not the prison who took pic of the id tag, they didnt even know it was missing until we told them.
