Hi I have just had a new hob fitted in my kitchen (14 days ago) and a red light comes on to show one of the rings is on, which it is not, so I need to contact my fitter. I think he may say i should contact the hob manufacturere and although i know this is not right i am unsure of what to say to him if he does Any help will be appreciated Janet
Who sold you the hob? They are responsible for sorting it out. If they employed the fitter to do the installation then they'll need to employ him again, you can't go direct to him.
It might still be simpler to go to the manufacturer.
Mention the Sale of Goods Act to the fitter, reminding him that your contract was with (and remain with) him, and not with the manufacturer. It's therefore his responsibility to remedy any fault. (Since you've never legally 'accepted' the hob, because it's never worked properly, you're also still entitled to a full refund if you so choose):
