I have a feeling the ticket has to be clearly on display so it's not just the fact you've bought one. Mean I know.
You can try fighting it, but don't automatically believe everyone who tells you that civil parking penalties are unenforceable. This guy could have paid £65 but ended up paying £258.36:

That said, it happened to me once - as I shut the door, the draught must have knocked it off. I sent a copy of the ticket (retained the original) and they accepted my excuse.
Dont send any money send photocopy of ticket to company. Claim the glue on tkt didn't stick.
Dont pay without an appeal ... http://www.moneywise....aign=ContentPromotion
Flitty - you have not received a FINE. It is an unenforceable INVOICE. Read Martin Lewis' advice from moneysavingexpert.

Private parking tickets are unregulated, unlike Council or Police Penalty Notice Charges.

You have not committed a crime.

Under no circumstances contact the Parking ticket company. This is civil law and not criminal law. They must send letters to the Driver not the registered keeper. And they cannot prove who wa driving.

Read all the threads on moneysavingexpert.

Do not worry.
............ and Chris should know better than quote the legal case he did. In that particular case, the individual sought legal advice from a help website. But the idiot identified himself in the threads of the website and the prosecution used THAT evidence to persuade the judge of his guilt. You KNOW that, Chris, we've discussed this case on here before.
