Would i be compensated
Hi All,
A bit confused at the moment.
I have been a victim of hate crime over the last 2 months, police have arrested the person who is my next door neighbour.
My neighbour posted my address on the EDL and combat18 website preaching racial and religious hate, i then had to flee my house as i couldnt live there anymore and stayed in a hotel for 6-7 weeks. He has pleaded guilty to sending me hate mail and posting my addess on the websites.
The question i have is will i get that money back that as compestion?

IamKing - this case is actually quite complicated. You potentially have more than one cause of action. I would suggest you see a solicitor on a free half hour consultation if necessary. The alternative is, try the Bar Pro Bono unit.
As has already been suggested, the three potential routes of compensation are through the criminal courts (as a compensation order, but potentially unlikely to be the full amount - have you completed a Victim Personal Statement?) b) the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (not entirely sure they would pay out in this case or c) a civil claim againt the perpetrator (only worth pursuing if he has assets against which you can enforce a judgement).
And as for a small minority of posters above, a) this is answerbank not judgemebank and b) if you don't know what you are talking about, shut up.
