my friend recived a 80 fix penalty notice for a minor theft of 5.24 but he gave the wrong name and adress to the police officer, if he gose in to the police station and admit that it was him can he get in to further trouble and more importantly will the person he pretended to be ever find out??
Fulton is right get him to own up now and let the police deal with it quickly. If he leaves it and a warrant is issued it will be a good dealmore serious.
Contact the officer who issued the ticket or his/ her sgt.
Further the person who details he gave will fing out if the ticket is not paid and/ or he/ she applies for a job with enhanced disclosure ie social worker/ police security or anything to do with child care etc.
The sooner he owns up the better - he might get away with paying the FNP but what if he is found out at some later date. The longer he allows the matter to go on for the more it will appear that he was trying to pervert the course of justice.
Try and clear it up now is the best course of action
ok. he dose want to own up to the crime but will the police tell the person he pretended to be??? and how long will the shop hold the cctv footage of him for??
If the CCTV was seized by police (usual practice) the tape will be kept until the matter is resolved.
I can't see any reason for the other person to be told that his details were given, unless he's gone to court already and pleaded not guilty - he'll then be given access to the CCTV.
Theft FPNs have to be paid within 21 days so get it sorted asap or it'll be hanging over you until the New Year.
Lol, all that excellent advice to do the right thing and the only person to get stars was Noxi who has taken the alternative and continue with the deceit!!
