if someone is on electronic tagging, will they be able to go abroad on holiday as long as they report the same day they get back?

I was reading your question and thought are you for real, hopefully you are only jokin
I would have thought it would depend on the terms of their probation/bail/bla-bla - I would think the answer is a most definate no.
Just in case you are not joking, pinkpost, electronic tagging is most usually used to enforce a curfew. The curfew will either have been imposed as a punishment (as part of a community sentence) or as a bail condition when a defendant is granted conditional bail.

In either case, the terms of the curfew will not normally allow the offender to absent himself from the place of curfew outside the curfew hours unless the court specifically agrees (and this is most unlikely).

I'm sure you're right Norman. It's justthat pinkpost (if the tuth was being told) seemed to belive that the "tagging" conditions were some sort of optional extras which could be complied with if it was convenient to do so, but igbored if not.
