If you have been arrested for a crime, then found not guilty does that arrest stay on file ? or is it considered not applicable and you have a clean slate ?

Hi Hippy,
All arrests are recorded on the police custody systems. If the offence is recordable ( inditable ) then the PNC ( Police National Computer ) will record the arrest, bail and charge or No Further Action ( NFA ) or Insufficient Evidence (IE). This is a Police record and not criminal record. The only offences that are recorded on a criminal record are convictions at court. You refer to a clean slate - I think you mean that you were charged and went to court and were found not gulity. You are therefore innocent of any crime and will not have a criminal record. The PNC record will show the trial and the no guilty verdict.

Not quite lawman.

Cautions, reprimands and final warnings are recorded on your criminal record as as fixed penalty notices for crimes like Public order, minor damage and drunk and disorderly nowadays.
Yes Yes,
The question related to not guilty so it would be a trial verdict not a fixed penalty etc which are all related to the police being the prosecutor not the CPS. May be I should of mentioned this but the question I THINK did relate to a court outcome.
