phone seizure by c.i.d.
7 Answers
My friend who was raped a number of weeks ago was interviewed by CID in a special suite yesterday. Today she has to be taken to a special suite outside of town for her injuries and examination by a Forensic Doctor. .
The C.I.D. have told her that they need to sieze her phone today which is her lifeline, for work, friends etc but she has some very threatening texts on the phone from the man who raped her, i.e to kill her, pictures of himself that he has sent to her to torture her etc.
Her phone is a contract one on 3 network and although I have tried to call 3 network, I get through to india and they dont understand that they cannot just zap the phone as all memory would be lost and thus no evidence left on it
Her phone is also insured. Does anyone know what I can do for her this morning because she is being picked up by CID at noon and they will then need to sieze her phone. This is quite urgent.
I can go and buy her a pay as you go phone to put her on but she will then just still have to pay for the contract one whilst the CID have it and I am sure it will take months for her to get it back.
PLEASE HELP.
Thanks.

They took her phone but she was just worried about how long it would take to get it back since it is on contract and she would still have to pay for the contract until she got it back. We got a pay as you go phone anyway and 3 are going to send her a new sim card.
Thanks a million.

I know your trying to help her. I'm finding it hard to get my head around the fact she is worried about a bloody phone, considering what has just happened to her.
Maybe she isn't and you are sorting out the minor issues for her at this time. Anyway ....I would contact the police and tell them the situation. Has she been offered a police family liason officer ? Maybe they can help.

I'm glad you got the phone issue sorted out Katie.
Can I just ask why if she was raped several weeks ago she is only just being examined for her injuries etc? Surely by leaving it this long they will have lost any vital evidence.
I hope your friend is ok,she's lucky to have someone to sort out the minor issues like this for her.x

thanks raven and daffy. Sometimes these small things seem so big when you have other issues at stake and are upset and thanks for your comments. Re the time it has taken, she didnt report it straight away because she was too upset and embarrassed. It was only when he started sending threatening texts and pictures of himself to her phone that she had the bottle to go to the police. I realise that vital evidence can be lost over time and the police explained this to her but at the end of the day, I cant really answer what they can and cant do. They seem to be very good anyway. I am not sure about a Family Liaison Officer but I know they have given her a Detective Inspector who is a woman.
Thanks again for all of your help.

Hi, Donna! My boyfriend was involved in a car accident a month ago. His car and phone were both seized. It took two weeks for his car to be returned (he had to take the time as holiday from work, as he couldn't get there) and he's only just gotten his phone back, so they do take their time with it. At least she has the Pay As You Go now, though. Hope she's alright. :)
