Hiya everyone!

How long does it take for the court of appeal to finish a summary before it is sent to the listings office? Then any ideas how long roughly it takes for a date. The appeal is against conviction and sentence.
Any sensible answers welcome!!!
Thanks.

I can't break it down into 'summary' and 'listings' but a typical appeal might take around 4 months to come to court from the point at which leave to appeal is granted. That's only a very rough guide. I'm sometimes amazed at how certain celebrities and public figures seem to get their appeals heard within a month or two. Equally, it's not unknown for some appeals to take over a year to get to court.

The matter is further complicated by the term dates of the Court of Appeal. Trinity Term is about to start, on 3rd June. It runs until 31st July. There are then 2 months holidays, with Michaelmas term starting at the beginning of October. The Court does sit, to hear some appeals, during the holidays but inevitably (because many of the judges will be sunning themselves on a beach somewhere) delays tend to occur around the summer period. An appeal lodged recently might well not come before the Court until the Michaelmas term begins.

Thanks Chris.

His appeal has been in since the 22nd of October. I think by the sound of it, it is going to be over a year unfortunately.
I can't understand why it takes so long, it's shocking really.
Anyway thanks again!!
