ABH Charge

Recently i was involved in a fight where i was initally preventing one, i stepped in front of a guy who was arguing with my friend, he then pushed me over and i fell into the road. I didn't do anything in retaliation, i went back over to my friend as we were leaving when the guy pushed me again. One of my mates grabbed the guy and pushed him to the floor, i fell over with him and two of my mates kicked him in the face. Now the guy and his mates are saying that i did it and i am facing court for abh. What is the likely outcome going to be? I'm obviously not going to plead guilty as i havent done anything but everything seems to be against me. i've never been in trouble with the police before, i'm male, 20years old, in full time employment and i'm very worried about losing my job. any advice would be helpful, please don't say 'your friends need to admit it' because i know that and they won't because their cowards.

Why don't you tell the police that your mates did it... why should you take the flak, you went in to defend your friend non-violently and then you walked away when it did get violent... shame that you take the flak for your mates, can't be very good mates if they are not even admitting what they did...

tell the truth. if the judge has any sense at all he will throw out the case and not charge you for anything, not even meddling in other peoples' business.

I know, i tried to tell the Policeman recently and he said he wans't interested. As for my 'mates' i don't even want to say how much i hate them. It just shows how **** the legal system in England is.

As the law has changed since April of this year, you can now receive a custodial sentence of up to 2 years for ABH. I am quite shocked though that as this guy has been kicked twice in the face that you haven't been charged with GBH which has a maximum term of 5 years imprisonment.
Your barrister is the best person to ask for advice. Has he given any indication of what chance you have? You say that everything seems to be against you, like what??
