Crown Court Trial - Postponements

After being referred to Crown Court, my partner's case was listed for trial in December, but the day before he was told not to come as there was no time to hear the case. Then it was relisted for June, but again, there was not time for it to be heard. No date has yet been fixed for it to be heard. We been told it could be October, his solicitor doesn't know. Is there any time limit when the case must be heard? Or a limit to how often it can be put off?

No time limit in the Crown Court. This is fairly typical owing to the tight schedules they work to.

The wheels of justice really do turn VERY slowly.

Thank you. I'd a horrible feeling that it could just run and run.

This is quite a minor case compared to many, but it is still incredibly stressful getting geared up to go to Court, as you wait weeks and weeks, and then right at the very last minute it gets pulled from the list.

it's beginning to make us both feel quite ill.
