arrested for shoplifting
5 Answers
I haven't shoplifted myself but as those who have read my previous post will know I have been banned from a store for being with someone who shoplifted. My question is I have been with this person while he shoplifted before but not been caught. Can shoplifters be caught and brought to court after the incident (i.e. if security staff check over cctv and spot you?) I'm really wanting to know if my picture's going to be up in other stores so that if I enter them again I will be arrested or detained. We got caught over 6 months ago and obviously haven't done anything since. Thanks in advance.

You have done nothing wrong anyway, what can you be arrested for? Even if your photo has been circulated to other shops (highly unlikely) then do you think the members of staff will recognise you from the thousands of others that go through the doors?

Thanks for trying to reassure me. I'm jsut scared that, seeing as I was detained by the shop security, in the eyes of the law I would be seen as an accessory all the other times. Does CCTV get copied over? I mean will there be CCTV of me out there from like 8 months ago still? I'm so sorry to keep going on about it. I'm just a complete nervous wreck about it. I keep throwing up with nerves (too much info I'm sure!).
Most large stores such as ASDA have 1 months worth of tapes.............. however.
Police take tapes when they have evidence of shoplifting.
So they could have many Tapes .
ASDA and the like have computers that do take still photos.
But i know that it is very rare for them to pass them onto other ASDA stores so no chance of them passing them onto say Morrisons or TESCO......
I worked as a Camera operator and Security Guard a few years back for the First store i mentioned.
