fraud offence

In 1987 and 1989, i was convicted of fraud by using a cheque book not belonging to me. I was given 180 hours community service and a fine. I went to florida 2 years ago but was only given a one one time entry visa, whats my chances on getting a full visa this time. Its 19 years ago when does the bad past leave you alone, even now its soul destroying, especially when its affecting your family still nearlly 20 years later. Many thanks to anyone who can help.

you were probably lucky to get a US visa in the first place. Fraud like drug offences are severely frowned upon by US immigration. If you apply for another visa now you can ask the embassy official if you can get a longer visa. Its entirely up to the embassy though.

as you have a criminal record for life,i doubt very much they would give you any sort of visa.

Norman - the poster says he got a visa 2 years ago. Not sure why you think he would never get another visa. Fraud is generally considered a crime involving moral turpitude. As the crime was 20 years ago the embassy official probably granted a short visa. When applying again you "may???" be given a longer visa. Visa's can be granted up to 10 years in length. Unfortunately our US friends don't forgive and forget

BOBS1975,im pretty sure,by the sound of the post that the person was let in on the visa waiver programme,which is a one off 90 day stay,if they wanted to apply for a proper visa from the embassy,they would be turned down.
