I have a conviction for assault which is due to be "spent" next year, however I dont know when?

I pleaded guilty, and hence was convicted, on the 13th Jan 04 but was sentenced on the 9th Feb 04. My rehabilitation period was 5 years but on which occasion & date did this start from?

Thanks for your help!

according to this, it's from the date of conviction, so in your case would be from 13/01/04.

Usually date of punishment starts from day of sentence. I would say your rehabilitation period ends on 9th Feb 2009

Just to keep anyone interested updated on this. I spoke with Nacro, who provide advice on the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974. They have told me in no uncertain terms that the rehabilitation period starts from date of conviction not the date of sentencing. Tricky grey area this one!
Just re-read your question, rehab after serving punishment is from conviction date ....punishment runs from sentencing date
