Hi, my daughters partner came out of prison just over 2 years ago, i have never told my husband her father that he was inside, what im worried about is that we are all planning a holiday abroad this year and im concerned that when we all go through passport controll that they may question him about his prison stay in which case my husband will find out, ive hated keeping it from him but my daughter didnt want him knowing, am i worrying over nothing, or will this happen at the airport. Please any info will be so much appreciated. Thank you

I'm sorry... but how on earth are either the UK or Cyprus immigration authorities going to know that this young man has been in prison? They don't record a criminal record on one's passport. And as far as I can remember, you don't have to fill in any forms to visit Cyprus.

Where are you planning on going?
If they do talk to him then they will talk to him on his own, not in public.

We are going to Cyprus, even if they take him to one side or in a room to question him my husband will want to know why.
Well then he would have to come up with a good story. I had a run in with the police one and they lied for me lol. I don't know why they would even talk to him though, unless he was locked up for something terrorist related.
I think it's only America you have to worry about.
Question Author
No his certainly not a terrorist, but he did shoot someone in the knee, does that make a difference?
I wouldn't of said so. To be honest you're just going to have to wait and see and if your husband says anything then it may be worth mentioning that you were not allowed to say anything to him. In the end her boyfriend has paid for his crime and shouldn't be punished for not wanting people to find out.

I cant help but worry tho, cos its not the only thing i have had to keep from him, other things are about our daughter and im guilt riddon i suppose, and if it should come out at the airport then the holiday will be ruined, is there any legal way i can find out for sure? thank you for your input though.

Thank you so much for your answers, maybe i can stop worrying myself so much now, i really thought it was a question asked on the forms, in which case it would have been monitored and they would have been looking out for him, i dont know why but i was worried that this would be the case, ive never been in trouble with the law before so could can understand why i was so worried. Thank you again. xxxx
