Hi trickze, sorry, I wrongly assumed your cousin lied during formal interviews because he stood on an ID Parade. A no-comment interview would also result in the possible requirement for an ID parade. If I am honest, it does concern me that you know that the victim stood up first and a witness is a relative but more importantly you are unsure of why the assault occured.
Youths commonly receive a Reprimand and a referral to a Youth Offending Team program for first time offences (for core crime) and it difficult to give you guidance without knowing the motive for the assault. However, there are many aggravating features disclosed in this case (group against one, offence committed in public etc) and therefore charging the offenders to be dealt with by a court can not be discounted. (The solicitor should be aware of current disposal trends in your area as I note advice was given).
