My partner is in court on two counts of a gbh intent charge. He is resident in the uk for 13 years, and has no previous convictions. My question is he does have previous over in the republic of ireland , will this be brought up in court,?

Don't worry about Ireland ,with 2 counts of GBH with intent ( Section 18,) he is going to be resident in HM Prison for the next 4 years or so.
there has been recent case law( recent as in 2007) which has changed the law on this issue. it is now possible for convictions committed in other countries to be relied upon in criminal proceedings in this country.
