criminal assault
i was racially abused by an individual who called me a "BLACK C--T" and who then raised his hand upwards as if he was going to strike me,i grabbed the person around the kneck and kicked his legs away taking him to the ground, where i restrained him till we were parted by a friend who was witness to the whole incident, there is also another witness who heard him racially abuse me,and saw him raising his arm in a manner which was percieved as a threat towards me! he also repeated the racial abuse when he went into his house, this person is known to me and we have had a long standing discrepency over an item i "LENT" him over a year ago, this is the first time i have been taken to court for anything, ime aged 41 and of good character, and a well liked person in my community! what would be the likely outcome in court, any help would be most appreciated,as i found the whole situation quite worrying, having never been in trouble with the police etc etc

smithy,
As someone else has mentioned, you have left out some important details:
1: Were you arrested?
2: If so, on suspicion of what?
3: Were you taken to a Police Station and interviewed on tape?
4: If so, was a solicitor provided free of charge there?
5: Did you admit to any offences? (Or did you deny any wrongdoing?)
6: Were you eventually charged with any offences? (If so, which offence(s)?)
7: Are you on Bail to appear at Court? (If so, when? Plus, is it at Magistrates Court?)
Unless you can provide some answers to the above, it will be very difficult for anyone here to try to give you some meaningful advice. I'm not judging you, but without relevant details, we're stabbing in the dark.
