my 18 yr old son has been charged with above offence after being drunk in a nightclub and striking the barman breaking his glasses. no other injuries were sustained thankfully, it is his first offence but he has not had any legal advice. He is due in court this thurs and i am at a loss of what to do as i live 200 miles from him and he very shy. I am pleased to say he has given up drinking now though.

why has he not had legal advice? he may be able to see the Duty Solicitor at court but should get there early if that's the case. is he going to plead guilty?

I have just been through a similar although slightly more serious case myself and have to say without my solicitor many, many things could have gone down the wrong road for me. I cant stress enough how important good representation is even if you intend to plead guilty like I did!
