Hi can any one tell me is it easy to change to a diff solicitor if you are on legal aid ? the case is going to crown court,

Hi I'm no expert but my partner had to change solicitors in the middle of a trial as there was a huge cock up! He ended up getting remanded so I was the one who had to get in touch with a new solicitor.all I done was rang them up and told them that my partner needed new representation and would they do it and they did without any problems.should be ok.sorry I can't be if more help

Make sure you have ok'd everything with a new solicitor before disinstructing the old one so there is minimum disruption to your case and bear in mind practicalities eg if there is an imminent hearing, any new solicitor needs adequate time to get any relevant paperwork and prepare properly.

Get their advice as to any changeover. They may well sort the appropriate forms.

Note the points about them being able to take on Legal Aid work as not all firms can. Also bear in mind rights of audience (which courts/at what level an individual solicitor can represent you in).
