does anyone know how long recording on town centre cctv cameras are kept for. my son was involved in a fighting incident at the end of december. would it still be on the database, i was told they only keep them for on for 30 days only. is this true...
the police have just been notified this week, about a fight in town that happened at the end of december. just worried in case it is found.

i am not misinforming you.
this incident is connected to the sword.
but another incident earlier in the evening about the fight did occur, my son was there just watching only.
i was trying to isolate from the other incident, so has not to confuse people.. if they find cctv from the earlier fight, they will connect it to my son for the later incident. if that sounds right.

My mate works as a controller in a security centre. He says the footage gets automatically replaced as and when the hard disk gets full - usually about 3 months (but obviously this will depend on the size of disk and how much is being recorded).
However the police will usually come in and request footage of a specific incident a few days after it is reported. If the cameras have captured anything useful my mate burns it to CD or VHS, the police collect it, and it can be used in court later.
