Curbside car sales
is it legal for a car dealer to simply park cars at the side of the road in various places with adverts in to sell them? I'm brassed off with one guy parking cars outside my house with A4 sheets of paper advertising them for sale.

Single car sales at the roadside aren't banned under the legislation I referred to above but, where certain laybys, verges, etc are regularly being used for such sales, the council can make an order prohibiting any sales at that location..

How many cars are there at any one time?
Section 3 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 states:
"A person is guilty of an offence if at any time—(a) he leaves two or more motor vehicles parked within 500 metres of each other on a road or roads where they are exposed or advertised for sale, or (b) he causes two or more motor vehicles to be so left".
The maximum penalty is £2500. Offences should be reported to the Trading Standards Department of your county council (or metropolitan council/unitary council, as appropriate for your area).
