Can I move out when I am 16?

My Mum, Stepdad and I never see eye to eye and others view their rules and childish. They always argue with each other and me to the extend I feel extremely stressed and uncomfortable in my own home. My boyfriend is going to univercity this year however his parents are very fond of me and have welcomed me with open arms giving me permission to live there without paying rent. If I was to accept this offer is it legal? Can my boyfriends parents get into trouble? I a currently in the middle of my GCSE exams but living where I currently am is stressing me out alot causing me to be unfocused which I do not want. My parents probably will not give concent and if I speak to them about it I will probably get a mouthful. Please help me out? Thank you x

But have a think about it before you do. Although you may not believe it now, your boyfriend may not always be your boyfriend (especially if you are to be parted by his going to uni) and what happens then?

What sort of rules are you talking about, Lucy? I think you would be running a big risk by cutting loose - our bf's parents might be welcoming, but it could be very different if you are living there, particularly if you and the bf split up in the future. It could cause big divisions between your parents and his. I'd think long and hard before you do it. Can't you just study at their house where it's peaceful, then come home to sleep? You might not have to pay rent but you would surely want to contribute for food, laundry etc., how would you pay for that?

I once heard that 16 is the best time to move out, whilst you still know everything there to know about everything.

Seriously, be careful these moves at your age often end with you having to move back home under even more difficult circumstances.
