Need a bit of advice please. I work in a charity shop, area manager wants us to do a happy hour twice a day, to try and boost sales. All items £1. Do we need to state on the sign when the happy hour starts and finishes? We think we should, she seems to think it can come and go as we please and leave it on for longer if its doing well. We don't think thats right.
Really she can do what she likes, but to ensure nobody accuses you of not selling cheaply for a whole hour, you could have a sign that says " All items £1", which you put up and down whenever you like.
Thank you for the replies, not what we expected, but at least we know that we can do it without anyone being able to complain, we have already had some customers wanting to know when it was, in case they missed out. Yeah I agree, they will keep waiting till the sign goes up. Customers are not daft, I know I would wait as well, but we do as the 'powers that be' say, then we get a hard time for not hitting target, can't really win.
I'm paid and yes even charity shops have targets, so glad I'm not the manager, lots of pressure, very little help. Had my eyes opened since taking this job, only work 20 hours unless manager is on holiday, its a good job, and interesting but so frustrating sometimes.
