Rotary clothes dryer

Our neighbour has cemented a rotary clothes drier in her garden. It's in the open position permanently and overhangs our side of the fence by approx 18 "
We've objected but she refuses to move it. Can we force her to move it?

You are allowed to cut off overhanging branches as long as you return them to the owner...but in the case of a clothes drier it could be criminal damage. Citizens advice bureau must know this one inside out.

How does the thing spin when loaded if it's so close to a fence? Do they use it exclusively for trainer socks?

i can see how it would be annoying, but does it spoil the enjoyment of your garden?
Perhaps either get a solicitor's letter, or tell her you poked your eye on it and are now going to sue her

She is committing trespass and you can take legal action to force her to take it down.

Trespass to airspace above the land can be committed. In Kelsen v Imperial Tobacco Co [1957] 2 QB 334, D committed trespass by allowing an advertising board to project eight inches into P's property at ground level and another above ground level.

airspace - invasion of the airspace above the land may also constitute a trespass, but is limited to the height at which the invasion would interfere with the full use of the land. For example, overhanging eaves will be a trespass. A trespass will also be committed if a structure that is connected to an owner‘s adjoining land overhangs their neighbour’s land, even if it is at a height that would not necessarily affect the neighbour‘s use of the land.

do her clothes then hang over your fence into your garden?

or is it pretty open plan?

i would plant a tall holly bush or similar immediately under it - or attach it to the fence under it....she will soon remove it when her clothes are fully of leaves and slugs or whatever...

i like new judges idea best. Perhaps a barbeque if you have a small garden, rather than a bonfire

What about creosoting your fence while the washing is out? Seriously though, How thoughtless can you get. I wonder how she manages to hang stuff on it. If she is only using one side you could turn it round and take her washing. Then drop it over the fence. If you water the garden her side beforehand that should sort her out. You don't say if you usually have a good relationship with your neighbour. I also like the bonfire idea....

Hang a hanging basket on it.
Reminds me of the time one of my neighbours decided to store his kids sledge by hanging it off the fencepost in our garden.
You just have to marvel at the cheek of some people.

That seems a very weird thing to do given that her washing must get dirty when it rubs on the fence?
Is there any ongoing dispute with your neighbour?
You could try planting a large tree or prickly bush or something that will cover her clothes with seeds etc
