On the limited facts you've given, it appears that you may have been unfairly selected. A solicitor or union rep may be able to advise. Many solicitors will give you a free initial interview.
It's not clear to me whether the person ehtobel2 trained was given ehtobel2's latest job or his/ her previous job role. It's also not clear whether ehtobel2 is being made redundant.
On the face of it, based on what the poster has said, an emplyer can appoint someone two weeks before annnouncing redundancies. Redundancies are often decided on a 'last in first out' basis but not always.
