...if at some point,you slip in the word"Allegedly",especially at the end,
does that give one the "latitude",or "freedom",to write/say anything ?

I am sure there will be instances where its use is not sufficient to mitigate the damage done by the preceding statement........but it seems to work well on some of the 'edgier' TV comedy shows.
