owed money by ex-employer, is there a time limit ?

Hi,

Was dismissed from a job in April and am still owed some pay, ½ day holiday and mileage expenses from March. Union rep was asked to sort it out but he doesn't seem to want to know now I've left.

Is there a time limit after which I forfeit what I'm owed, and what can I do ?

No there is no time limit (assuming you aren't going to leave it over 6 years before chasing it up whichcould make it 'statute barred').
Have they accepted they owe you the money?
Are you certain it is owed?
Is the company still trading?
Have you submitted a written request for the money? If so, has there been a response?

You could have done this as a claim for unpaid wages to an Employment Tribunal, but there is a 3 month time limit. Your Union rep. should certainly have known this & advised you, so a formal complaint to your Union might be worthwhile.

Now, if you can't get it paid any other way (& if you know the firm is still solvent & are certain you are owed this money) you will have to do it by a County Court claim, which will cost you a Court fee. You get this fee back from the firm if you are successful.
