I would suggest that you seek a day's net loss of earnings for having to take a day off from work together with your reasonable travel expenses. Unless there is a special reason why your new husband should attend (such as disability), you can't really expect them to pay for him - no reason why you can't ask though - just explain you are uncomfortable at travelling that distance alone. After all, if they had had their heads screwed on at the original hearing, you wouldn't be being put to this trouble.
Why not try and get an early appointment at the TE, sign the docs and then have a day out with your new fella? If you book the tickets in advance on an Apex fare, they shouldn't cost him too much.
