CRB Checks
Hi I am applying for a job and been told I have to have a CRB check. I am a Care Assitant and had one done in September 2011 for another company, although I was only there for a couple of days. The new home have said I would have to have another one done, I thought a CRB check stayed with you where ever you went. I am aware that they have to be renewed every so many years. Anyone set me straight. Thanks

It is good practice for both employers and employees to have a check done every 2/3 years

and what exactly does your NI number show rocky?
I dont think it shows your criminal record, does it??
There was going to be a central database, where people needing CRB checks for their jobs were going to have to have their own checks done and be entered into a central checking system. They would be given a pin which they gave to potential employers to check they were CRB checked and what standard of check they had (cannot for the life of me remember what this database was going to be called!)
It seems this is not going to be introduced any more, no idea why, but it isn't

No, it wasn't a link to the CRB at all venator - it would require a CRB and membership to a central database where you needed to register that CRB
I found it!
ISA: http://www.isa.homeoffice.gov.uk/
Looks like it *may* be going ahead from the end of this year. Originally it was 2011

CRB checks are not transferable between employers so if you have applied for a new position of Care assistant you are required to have a new CRB check, probably on the basis that you will come into contact with vulnerable adults. Your new potential employer will make the job offer conditional on receiving a satisfactory CRB check, they may let you start work before this is received but this can be a very dangerous practice.
Of read - I wonder what they do in other countries - must do some googling
Further into your link, they report 96000 abuse cases in care homes, but that there's no legal duty to inform the CRB people unless the abuser is removed from post. Obviously, most just move on.
So we have a system that lets perhaps 95000 abusers slip through the net.
Perhaps the time & effort could be spent in looking for them?
