There was some argument because I did not answer the door but it was 5am Sunday morning and they thought the door was extremely expensive for the type of house.
I had to also have the hall and landing decorated as a result as well as 2 shelves, antique grandfather clock and ornaments replaced.
The damage came to nearly £7,500. The police did agree this was genuine but they did try to pay less as they thought the damage was extremely unfortunate and I should pay for part of it ie they did not think it could have been forseen a grandfather clock would be there.
It was nearly 15 months when the police finally settled.
