Pets in Petfree buidling

I'm curious how serious it is to violate a PETFREE code within the same building and what I can do legally, to get that pet out. I don't find it far that my building is declared PETFREE and not everyone abides by this ruling. Any thoughts?

All the rental properties I have lived in have been 'No pets' and in every case I was able to get permission before moving in. However my current home is in a pet free block the only exception was an elderly lady who had a very old dog when she moved in it would have been cruel to part them The dog died within a year. I really miss having a cat though and find that the only drawback
evian thats what i mean, some would get a pet rehgardless of the rules then unfortunatlet when it is discovered they are forced to get rid or move... many will just get rid, which is unfair on the animal
i missed the OPs response, but it appears he was a bit ungrateful and snotty - anyone tell me what he said? answers not 'on his side enough' or somehting?
if the place has fleas i would be fuming, my boyfriends neighbour has had them for months nopw from the previous owners and theyve spent a fortune on sprays and smoke bombs and had an exterminater in twice...and they just reappear... it only takes a couple of eggs or a few to be missed to start all over again ... and he is actually pretty upset about it... feels horrible etc, he also got a terrible rash from bites etc - so regardless of who started the fleas, they are all at risk, and i would want then removed as per the rules too.
i know myself, given how my house is, if i became infested i would never get rid of them...too many nooks and crannys for them to hide from the chemicals... itd be a nightmare.
as i said, if the rules say they cannot bring animals ALL of these selfish people must have gone and bought them after moving in...and now must move or rehouse...
i would be billing the owners for any costs too - though if you are in the UK the council will come and spray for free, so check online

But joko we don't know whether this pet she is talking about has permission to be there. As rowan says, in certain circumstances a landlord will allow it, especially if it is an old pet, on the understanding that it is not replaced when it dies. How do we know this pet caused the place to be infested with fleas? May be an old building and been there for years. Would love to hear the other side of the story. Maybe she is new to the block and the others have lived there quite happily for years in which case she is going to make herself very unpopular. Thinking back, I have twice lived in a flat where the lease said no animals. In both cases I asked the LL if it would be OK and they agreed it would as long as there were no complaints. I made sure there weren't. If you flat has a separate entrance that can work in your favour as the animal doesn't have to go into any other part of the building except your flat. She she was advised on here what to do before she was rude anyway.
As to the OP's deleted post I can't remember, but as has been said, it was rude.

no ladybirder, we dont know all the answers there... but based on the OP posts it would seem that some people have brought pets in despite knowing they shouldnt ... if there was a chance they were allowed then presumably the LL would have had to consult all the other tenants...
the OP also clearly feels the fleas have appeared because of the pets - fleas tend to be where animals are ... i assume had the place had them before he would not have moved in
but unless the OP confirms any of this who knows...
