do i need to get copyright permission to have a specific piece of musoc played at my funeral

Didnt need to do this when we played music of our choice at our wedding and this was in church. hope this helps

thanks, but i really want to make sure.. after all i'm not going to be around to sort it out if there's a problem.. and i don't want to be remembered for mucking up my own funeral !!... or perhaps... no! don't even go there !!

As I understand it, if a church/crematorium offer this service it is they who should be paying their dues to the performing rights society (these are the people who collect royalties) and not 'the customer' as it were (couldn't think of a better term!!)

I thought churches, registry offices etc all held the license necessary for playing music.

The church/crematorium should have a licence in place for events such as this. I would personally be very surprised and shocked if you were asked to get copyright permission for this.
