Help?! How can I find out where a disabled person has been taken

A mentally disabled friend has been taken from his home by social services and put into care, I do not know what the full circumstances are but no one knows where he has been taken and his family have been told they cannot talk about it Otherwise they could be arrested. Does this sound correct? And how can I help him as he will be terrified and alone .

No not really. I'd say there's a substantial amount of information missing.

This is probably covered by the mental health acts 1983/2007.
The key to this may be the nearest living relative who should have been contacted to act for this person and if they do not wish to act can nominate another relative or person who is prepared to act, if there is no one the court will make an appointment. For a family member to be arrested if they divulge information seems highly unlikely and I would be interested to hear the reasoning behind this claim.

I would imagine there is very good reason this man has been taken from his home. He will have been deemed either vulnerable to exploitation or physical harm from others, or a danger to himself or others.
I do not believe the family will be arrested if they tell you where he is and I doubt they have been told this. They obviously don't want you to know where he is.

Thanks for the replies, I was very upset when I posted and no I don't know the facts, it sounds like it must have been done for his protection but I cannot see what he needed protection from, very sad really as he's so sweet and harmless I just wish I could look after him myself!

I'm sure there is more to this than you know, he may be sweet but nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors. That may sound horrible but they don't take people away from home for no good reason. He won't be alone in a care environment, it sounds as if he's there for his own safety. You may not be able to help, you don't know what the background to this event is.
