When male cleaners are operating in female toilets/showers should signs be displayed? Is this law? My wife was not impressed when seeing a make cleaner in the ladies toilet/shower block at our holiday sight. Thank you

I wouldnt say it would needs to be law, however I would see it as desirable.

What are they going to see? women going in and out of doors, hardly an invasion of privacy.
council work people here always have a sign!

some even close the loos when cleaning takes place!
Some B&B's have shared toilets so I can't see it being a legal requirement.
it's more important there is a 'cleaning in progress' sign to indivate a slip hazard
Where I work the cleaner is a woman !
I would expect a sign or a second person standing by to warn people. But in a holiday season there are often just a few seasonally workers, getting round the site in a limited time and although it was a bit of a surprise for her, no law was broken. If you feel strongly mention it as feedback to the site owner, otherwise they might not realise the offence caused.
The attendant in male toilets in France is invariably a woman, and this seems to cause no problems. Affectionately known as Madame Pipi (wee-wee) she sits at the door with a saucer beside her and woe betide the customer who does not drop a coin in.
they do often have cleaning in progress signs, but do you mean in the shower bit - or the toilet bit?

if the shower, then yes they should have signs as many people sit and apply creams and dry off etc outside of the cubicle and are practically naked, but if you mean the toilet bit i think your wife should try to lighten up a bit - she is in a toilet cubicle, what does she think he was going to see?
he washing her hands?
I do not mind female cleaners in the male toilets as long as they are staunch full-time naturists!
most female attendants in France make Madame Defarge look like a pussy cat.
I dont mind female attendants in a male toilet as long as their hands are warm
In many Costas now, the loos are mixed gender, they have one normal loo and one adapted one for people with disabilities.
I much prefer the stall system where the toilets are in individual stalls that open into a public area, usually outside. There is a washbasin in each and is unisex, so no chance of anybody being followed in to a secluded toilet block.

Tks for the replies. It is a ladies shower n toilet facilities where, I am told, that though there r cubicles the ladies sometimes girls from the showers to the loos etc just in towels. Think it was a case that should a sign be up informing people (which there was not). Also young children use the facility as well. Me personally, I am not overly concerned as my daughter is a black belt in karate!! :-)
I've been in loads of b*gs which have had a female cleaner - so why would a male in a female b*g be such a big deal - unless, of course, they no longer provide cubicles with locks?

Maybe your missus thought he might peek over the top?
There always seems to be male cleaners in the ladies at motorway services. Personally it puts me off a bit when I'm doing my face.
"Personally it puts me off a bit when I'm doing my face"

Just pull your knickers up a bit then ;-)

There are many male cleaners now. I see no difference between men or women cleaners in either loo - the doors have locks for a reason
There are usually signs in the ladies toilets stating that there may be male operatives attending in the toilets. The holiday site should have made that very clear. Especially in this day and age where children may go unattended, the parents may not be happy about that . However I'm not sure of the legality of displaying signs, and what would you do if there was a male attendant?
I don't think it's a legal requirement and I can't see why it would matter:)
Ive just come back from a camping holiday where they did indeed have "Male cleaner on duty" signs when they were...errr cleaning, lol.

However i just wanted to point out that in the 2 weeks i was there and the 14+ showers i took whilst there not one woman, myself included flitted between the showers and loos with just a towel round us. Women as a rule will never do that, want other women looking and comparing bodies??? No way no how, we all, dressed fully, even if it was just a dressing gown before we left the shower cubicle.
