Wrong maiden name on my marriage certificate , is My marriage legal?

After recently applying for a copy of my birth certificate, to my devastation i actually found out that my birth name is actually different to what i had always been brought up as n thought to be (I.e my birth certificate has that i took my moms surname rather than my fathers and that my father wasn't actually registered on the certificate and had Unknown ). I then realised that when i got married i used my dads surname on the certificate as i didn't know any differently. Does this mean legally i am not married by law? I also now do not have my parents to ask all these questions to or find out why . So i would appreciate if somebody could shed any light?

You may be know as any name in the UK (for example you may take a step parents surname and be 'known as' Joe Smith... but legally you would still be Joe Bloggs or whatever is on your birth certificate (until you change by de poll). On a wedding certificate you would need to put your legal name, regardless of whether you are know as something else, rumplestiltskin or otherwise. I would get this checked out at your local registry office
