Age is 23, Uncle has been a father figure, a lot of problems have gone off.

Agree, he's an adult, he doesn't need adopting.

the uncle can name the nephew as a beneficiary in a will or name him as next of kin but you can only adopt a minor in the UK. there is no law that can control where the nephew lives or who he chooses to call family or even Dad.

Very few legal restrictions on who can adopt.
Child can only be adopted below age of 18.
As dotty suggests the nephew may wish to clarify their wishes regarding next of kin.

The nephew has nothing to do with his family other than the Uncle and the Uncle has been a father figure to him so I was just wondering.
