Australia removed automatic remission of sentences 9 years ago and reduced the average sentences imposed by 1/3 accordingly

Read the link above , Looks like Oz has the same problems as us. Misrepresentation of sentences by the press. Here the papers quote the minimum review date for a sentence as if it were a release date so they can stir up resentment about 'soft sentences'
