Freedom Of Information Act
Have any of you ever used the Freedom of Information Act? I want to find out some information from the NHS and thought this might be the best route to take.
Answers
Check the Freedom of information (Scotland) act 2002 (2000 in England) and you will find you may be able to obtain information from Hospitals, if the request is concerning yourself you may find the Data protection act, which applies in Scotland, helps.

I sure have... lots
South of the border (and it can't be that different North) find out who the Data controller is in the org you have selected
Dear SIr, Freedom of Information Inquiry
Please answer within the statutory time limits
My question is.... How many BHR units (Birmingham Hip Replacement) have been put in within the last year and what complications occurred
yours maggie bee
or whatever your question is....
however since it is Your Own Information
then you should be applying under the Data Protection Act
(altho the Hospital should tell you this)
and I would have thought it easier to say can I have a copy of my notes.
same guy Data controller or Medical Records Officer
IF you are worried about the Hip replacement, and complications
then it is sensible to contact the consultant at the Hospital who put it in.
