A friend has gone to prison for failure to attend a parole officer meeting.

He has been sentenced to five months, which means he will serve eight weeks.

One week after detention, he has been moved to a less secure prison, and is classed as Catagory D.

He has applied for release to home with a tag, to commence on 1 April - this will be three weeks into his term.

Does anyone know if there is a standard proceedure in terms of time servied before release with a tag

He is returning to a secure address with his partner and baby.

Thanks for any ifno.

Hi bednobs

No, he got the sentence for non-attendence of the meeting.

The parole was for theft from a supermarket, first offence i think.
Hi Andy, I do not know the answer but you could call these guys:

For more information, ring the HDC policy helpline on one of the following numbers: 0203 334 5043 and 0203 334 5044. Staff cannot comment on individual cases but can offer general advice on the HDC process

Thanks Orderlmit -I will call.
To be pedantic, the 5 month sentence wasn't for failing to turn up at the probation office. It was for the original theft, as he would have been re-sentenced for it when he failed to meet the terms of the Community Order.

This is the page that Orderlimit has quoted from above (which might offer a bit more information for you):

I would have thought he wouldn't be eligible for a tag, seeing as he got his sentence defferred and then defaulted
