For some unknown reason the politicians seem to think they are the answer to all our future energy needs ( must be the backhanders), the machines cost an arm and a leg to make , and we pay for them in "green" taxes on our bills. No I do not like them.
A great fuss is being made about two being erected near here - mainly from people who can't even see them from their houses - and I agree with other answers that they are utter NIMBYs. I think they are so-o-o elegant - I wonder did our ancestors complain about pylons being placed all over the country and did the Dutch complain about their beautiful windmills?
windmills are beautiful, and the ones i have seen were no longer in use, but left as a reminder of a our heritage, these monsters are not small, they do make a noise, and already been pointed out the blades on a number have sheared off when it was very windy. Hardly a good advert for a wind turbine.
For every article I've read that says they aren't cost effective, I've read another that says they aren't.
How is any normal person supposed to know what's actually true?
They're trying to erect some round here. I don't think they look particularly great but I can't say I'm that bothered. They'll compliment the new HS2 line.
