Non Receipt Of Goods, What To Do Next?

Our parcels are delivered "care of" to a small local sub-post office and general store: either mr sloop or I drop in most days anyway, or they'll call us to let us know there's a parcel.

On chasing some goods (ordered from a company I've happily done business with before), it appears they were delivered there nearly three weeks ago, and the supplier has sent me through a copy of the signed delivery note. There's nobody of that name - or signature - at the shop, and we know exactly who was on duty on that day and time. The shop's been turned upside down and no unaccounted for parcel discovered.

The supplier has gone away to talk to the carrier company, who he's never had a problem with before, but if he draws a blank there, what are my options?

I stress I'm no expert, but I'd have thought that the last person to have signed for receipt of the parcel and not had a receipt from someone else showing they had collected it, would be asking their insurance company to sort it out.

No grudge against the courier company that delivered to the shop but that's what they pay business insurance for isn't it ? In any case it is a dispute between the shop and them, you ought to be compensated by someone. And my guess is by the person who sent the goods, and they claim off their courier who took the parcel from them, and who in turn .... etc.

I'm really not sure who it's dispute between OG, I just know it was an expensive order of specialist light bulbs and I want either my goods or my money back

we're the only people they take "in care of" parcels for, and the staff would never hand them over to anyone else

after all that is what has happened innit ?
I would think that it is an insurance question for the delivery company that your supplier used......plain and simple - However, I would notify your own insurance company to let them know - you don't have to put a claim in yet but if they can get who the carrier was and their insurance they can also push......(had it with that recent incident referred to off-line, sloopy).

It sounds like the courier may have delivered them to the wrong address and someone has signed for them. I can't see the courier admitting to this so, as they have a signature saying it was delivered, it would have to be the supplier to make a decision whether to reimburse you, resupply the goods or stand their ground and say the goods were delivered and signed for.

I think it depends on how much the supplier values your continued custom as to what they do. I'm not sure you can do much if they decide to take the view that the goods were delivered and they have a signature to prove it.

I agree with you methyl. As i have already said I know of no such insurance,but I am always willing to learn !!

DoI..... You say you run an Insurance Company,so perhaps you would tell me exactly what type of insurance cover you are able to arrange for this contingency,what it would cost and the basis of rating to arrive at a Premium.
