Mclibel - Payola For Mcdonald's ?
3 Answers
This am radio 3 carried a piece that one of the authors of the McDonalds Green peace sheet (yeah 1990s) which was the subject of a libel trial, was a metropolitan police under cover agent.
They then had a sound bite from one other author of the libel which reassures everyone that Citizen Smith and Dave Spart are still alive in our capital city. 'Stasi tactics ' came up and was recycled, I recall.
The trial was marked by McDonalds knowing that the four defendants would not be able to pay damages - was it £0.5m ? - and their own costs wh were estimated as £10m.
and now and now, surely McDonalds can claim off an employer - to wit the metropolitan police ?
Payola for McDonalds - you always wanted your [police] precepts to go to a fast food joint, didnt you ?
and the good news of course is that ifor McDonalds it is all tax free.
The question ? This is a clear case of vicarious liablity innit ?
