Police search powers under review again. The Home Secretary said: "At its best stop-and-search is a vital power in the fight against crime. At its worst, it is a waste of police time and undermines public confidence in the police."

The average stop search takes 16 minutes to complete and results in a 9% arrest rate (approximately 90.000 arrest).
