Because he couldn't sleep, and called on a friend, they went to a 24/7 Asda.

Suspicious behaviour???
Ruddy police, nothing better to do ??
what was he arrested for? It couldn;t just have been 'looking suspicious', the police would have just told him to leave the store. Did he see a duty solicitor?
Presumably, if the pair were arrested in ASDA it was ASDA staff who called the police, so if they were released without any charges they should ask ASDA for an explanation and apology and maybe a goodwill gesture
No your finger prints and DNA are taken when arrested, you don't have to be charged, but The Protection of Freedoms Act gained Royal Assent on 1 May 2012. Sections 1 – 25 of the Act cover DNA and fingerprint retention and they ought to be destroyed.
