Got a possession order to evict trespassers and when i wet to the property, he was out. I have changed the locks but the trespassers belongings are still in the property. What is the best legal way to dispose of their belongings?

You have to give them an appointment time to collect them I think but they have to be supervised and not given a key (obviously) I would just dump them out on the street and tell them to come and collect , but I don't think that is legal.
Stick a rather large note on the window
saying access can be given on contacting the address

and a time limit - 14 d

and that thereafter they will be disposed of

(occurred down the road from me)

also make sure your house is secured (both)
They wont be along as they will be frightened you'll get their address and sue for damages during their unlawful occupation....
You may have to cover yourself by adding to the note that the goods will be sold, and the proceeds can be claimed within three months, after deduction of costs of restoring the property to its previous state.
If that leaves 5p, then too bad.
But if you do sell the stuff, keep records, just in case.
you cannot just 'dispose' of their stuff. you must give it back to them.

you can request a police officer be present if you fear for your safety while they come and collect it.
box and bag it all up beforehand so they can be in and out quickly

you could put it in the front garden in binbags - but make it look like its just garbage so its not stolen and let them collect it - but if it goes missing they may try to sue you for theft as its your word against theirs

install a dummy cctv camera high up too, so they dont try to damage the property
If you wish to be squeaky clean you should abide by the Torts (interference with goods) act 1977, and If you have another address write to the owners of the goods or be able to show you have tried to obtain an address, and warn them you are going to dispose of their goods and give them a reasonable date when this will occur (say 3 months) and where, then sell or otherwise dispose of the goods keeping the proceeds on their behalf. It is extremely unlikely they will take any action.
